Our Founder
Vome Aghoghovbia, was born in Lagos, Nigeria. She grew up in a family of four girls and was brought up to believe a girl child can achieve anything if given the right opportunities. She moved to England at the age of sixteen, where she obtained top A-Level grades and a first class MEng degree in chemical engineering from University College London (UCL).
Embracing her uniqueness has been invaluable. This led her to write a book titled 'Everyone Deserves to Sparkle. It is about discovering your uniqueness, understanding the purpose of your unique attributes, and using your gifts to make a difference.
Vome has a science background and a plethora of interests, ranging from business to food to writing. She has worked at different companies, such as Google, British Petroleum (BP), and Bulb Energy. Also, she won an Institute of Chemical Engineers Young Engineers Award. This award was open to all Chemical Engineers in the UK who are in the early stages of their career.
She recently started an initiative called Ignite Africa, with the mission to help shape the future of Africa’s energy. In addition, Vome is the cofounder along with her three sisters of a food and beverage company, DVees, which seeks to increase the influence of West African food around the world.
Vome believes everyone deserves to sparkle. She is passionate about empowering people to use their gifts to set the world on fire and make it a better place. This led her to start the Sparkle Initiatives.
